I found this blog by googling Stacey Poole’s name. I was writing a message board post about Vanderbilt’s 1993 season, where one of our two losses was in Gainesville. Just wanted to let you know he’s not forgotten, and you’re not crazy for remembering him.

Am I the only vegan in the world that can’t stand PETA? They provide a lot of useful information about vegetarian products, but they seem so centered on big obnoxious stunts that make everyone “pay attention” (i.e. “hate PETA”) rather than smaller practical steps that might actually make more of a difference.

So no, the information in the link hardly surprises me. I consider it par for the course actually.

Well, IxChel, clearly you and I agree on several things, including the “cute as a button” dancers from Florida!

I have yet to hear anything from Ms. Vehling, but I can’t say I’m not surprised, beyond an automated “I’m out of the office” response. If I don’t hear back in a week or so, I’m just going to chalk the whole thing as an endorsed practice by a morally bankrupt squad.

Frog Brother,

I am a former Golden Girl (Dance Team) of FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY. I also returned several years later to coach my old squad. If any school might cross the line with your players, it’s probably the big state rival- but that being said, I don’t think anyone (myself or on my team) would ever (under any circumstances) behave so hatefully towards a player from another school. Sure, we might try to distract your free thrower with our poms, but hateful comments??? No way. Undignified AND unladylike!

I’m sorry for your player, and pleased that you posted the article. I have known plenty of Dazzlers in my day and they were all cute as buttons. Florida (The State- not the School) girls are generally nice- especially dancers!!! Even the Miami girls would have more class than to badger Mr. Noah.

Congrats on your win. Keep focusing on Basketball!
